This page explains what data this site collects, who else can collect data through it, and what you can do about it.

What this site collects directly

Nothing that identifies you. There is no account system, no newsletter signup form and no comment system. Standard server logs record IP address, browser type and pages requested, and are retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.

Analytics

Aggregate traffic analytics are used to understand which pages are useful. Analytics data is not used to build individual profiles and is not sold.

Advertising cookies

Third-party ad networks serving advertising on this site may set cookies and use device identifiers to serve and measure ads. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads; you can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or at optout.aboutads.info.

Affiliate tracking

Clicking an affiliate link may set a cookie that records the referral for a period defined by that merchant, typically 24 hours to 30 days. See the affiliate disclosure.

Your rights

Visitors in the EU and UK have rights under GDPR, and visitors in California have rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to know what data is collected and to opt out of its sale or sharing. A consent management platform is required before serving personalised ads to EU, UK and California traffic.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. Pages about teaching children to tie shoes are written for the adults doing the teaching.
