How To Tie A Shoe is an independent reference library. It exists because the information about lacing is real, useful and scattered across forums, product pages and half-remembered advice, and it deserved a single organised place.

Every pattern entry follows the same structure: a direct answer to what the pattern does, the footwear it suits, four numbered steps, and a schematic showing the visible front face. Diagrams are simplified on purpose. They show what the finished pattern looks like from the outside, which is what you need in order to copy it, rather than every hidden pass underneath.

Editorial approach

Patterns are included when they have a name, an established use and a reason to exist. Claims about fit are described in terms of where pressure moves, not in terms of medical outcomes. Where a lacing change is commonly recommended for a foot problem, the entry says what it does mechanically and says plainly that it is not a treatment.
